5 TIPS to Get Back Some Time

Lions and Tigers and Bears – Oh My!

At least, sometimes it feels that way, right? You’re a full-time mom, full time kid wrangler, full time cook, full time babysitter, full time nurse, full time sounding board, full time <job title>, full-time…

How many full times is that and just how many hours are there in a day to do all of them? You have your hands full and then some. So, hopefully some of these tips will help you juggle some of those activities and make you a rested Ringmaster.

  1. ENFORCE BEDTIME: for the kids and for you too! You need your rest just as much as you tell the kids they do. Set a bedtime that allows you, at a minimum, six hours of sleep and keep to it. You’ll end up dragging and actually wasting time if you don’t get enough sleep. Your body is trying to tell you something, listen to it.
  2. Learn to say “NO”: and I don’t mean just to the kids, family and friends. You can’t do it all and you need to set your boundaries. You’d like to head up little Johnny’s school fundraiser, but do you really know the time commitment it will take. You need to assess all your time commitments and when asked to do yet another let them know “I’d really love to do that but right now, I wouldn’t be able to give it the time it needs and will need to pass on this opportunity”. This works at work too! Don’t take on more just to please the boss if you don’t have the time. Set the rules. If nights and weekends are family time, then let the boss know you don’t accept work related text then.
  3. Set realistic daily goals: If you’re still making daily To-Do list then you might want to change your way of thinking. Here’s a post I wrote earlier on Time Battles and winning the War that can help with that.
  4. Step away from the Internet: This one makes me cringe because you probably found this post on the internet and I want you to explore Created Portraits a little more. But, the internet, specifically social media, can become a timeless black hole if you don’t set limits on how long you and the kids are allowed to surf the web. Set limits and when you reach them, go to the park with the kids, play in the backyard, play a board game… just make sure you un-plug.
  5. Delegate: We all say it “I’ll do it myself” because we all know it’ll get done right that way. But sometimes you need to let it go and delegate the task to someone else – including the kids. Have them pick up their toys, take out the trash, load the dishwasher, sweep the floor…and the list goes on. Here’s another post I wrote that’ll help you get the kids helping you; Its all about safety but you can use the WANTED POSTER for good, and never for evil. It’ll buy you some time and you and the kids will have fun doing it. So, delegate away!

With a little planning and re-thinking, you can get it all done in the time you have, believe me,  and end up with some rare  and cherished Me time. Use it, enjoy it, because you deserve it!

So now that you have some leftover ME time. Use it wisely and create something wonderful for yourself. Let us help you create a lifetime memory with a well deserved portrait. We can light and pose you to flatter you to create an eye popping, stop-in-your-tracks portrait. We can set up a time to call, chat and see if we’re a good fit for each other. We call it the DISCOVERY.
