The Enchanting Princess

Coming to Life

It isn’t everyday you get to spend an afternoon with a princess. But when this enchanting princess came to life – Maryann and I had that very opportunity.

Read on to learn more about how we brought her to life and our awesome afternoon creating some magical moments…..

You may remember Catherine Campbell from our Great Sax shoot we did a couple of months ago. Well when she asked us if we’d be interested in another themed photo session we jumped at the chance without any hesitation. We had such a great time on the Great Sax shoot and were looking forward to working with her again.

I immediately knew we had an opportunity to create some really magical images starting with the one above.

Coming to life

You may recognize the Snow White doll in that image. I used it to explain Selective Focus in a post

I knew I wanted to ‘bring her to life’ using this concept along with lighting that would draw the eye to her, the real princess and main character in this story.

Over the course of the next several weeks we emailed ideas to each other on how we saw this shoot progressing and some of the props and details we’d be using.

Beautiful woman holding an apple.
Details

Check out the details in this image. The ruby red lips, the blush on the cheeks, the beautifully painted nails and the darkened hair.

Catherine wanted to play the part to her fullest and we think she absolutely nailed it. It was this attention to details that helped us create some images that show the character and why that wicked step mother was so jealous of her beauty.

Who is the fairest in the land?  Once again, attention to detail was key. Catherine found this mirror and knew we had to have it for this shoot.

Fairest in the land.
Fairest in the land.

We think she was right and it was the perfect prop for this fantasy shoot.

This story would not be complete if we didn’t incorporate the wicked stepmother somehow, now would it?

The problem, where can we find a wicked stepmother… where can we find…. I got it ! – yells Maryann.

Can you guess who it might be?

Have you figured out what she’s using to carry the apples?

Have you been wanting to do a stylized portrait session? With you, your family or something else? If you do but aren’t sure what no problem. We have lots of ideas!

Let us know what you have in mind. We’d love to know more about it. Or learn more about how we can create a fantasy.
